The Important Page!

Let us start with beginner’s courses. You can apply for information on a beginner’s course by calling this number. 0776-1619840. Usually, courses are held over the winter months at ‘Hadrian’ Leisure Centre (Burnside School) for six weeks on Wednesday evenings between 6-30 and 9pm.

How much does it cost? – Courses cost £50 ( 2024 price, but check on your call ) for the six weeks and an extra seventh week for those interested in taking archery up as a sport. All equipment is provided.

Next is ‘where do we shoot as a club’? – We have both indoor and outdoor venues, but these can change as none are owned by us. While outdoors we shoot at ‘Longmeadows’ in Killingworth. The field backs onto Megstone Court but there’s no access from there and entry must be gained via the overflow carpark in Killingworth Young Persons Club. We use Tuesday evenings and Saturday Afternoon. Often, for those who have time off work, we also shoot on Thursday mornings.

Indoors at present on Tuesday and Saturday we shoot at New Clifford’s Fort in Tynemouth courtesy of the Army, while on Wednesdays we shoot at Hadrian Leasure, a more casual venue where beginner’s courses are held. Indoor shooting is held between October and the end of April. Wednesdays at Hadrian Leisure begins late September until the end of May.

For times and days, as they can vary, just follow the ‘News’ entries.

How much? – Club members pay annual fees to ArcheryGB, the Northern Counties Archery Society and the Durham and Northumberland Archery Association.

So what do you pay for? – The monthly club fee allows us to pay for venues in the winter and grass cutting and line marking in the summer. Add to that the cost of replacing worn out equipment and the annual costs quickly run into the thousands. The county fee allows the county to fund county shoots and facilitates the cost of County Teams, where necessary. It allows the support of County Coaching and Judging. The regional fee allows a similar support at regional level. The ‘region’ to us includes Durham & Northumberland, Cumbria, Yorkshire, Lancashire, Cheshire also including the Isle of Man.
